Did Apple rip off icon design from Hip Chat and Microsoft Security Essentials? The Messages app icon looks a lot similar to Hip Chat, a group collaboration chat and IM tool.

Not only that, the OS X Gatekeeper icon looks almost the same as Microsoft Security Essentials icon. Not one, but two….did Apple designer became lazy and run out of ideas?

In case you are wondering, Messages and OS X Gatekeeper are two new features that will be included in Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.
