Windows 8 Developer Preview is not yet stable and thus not really suitable as daily OS for your computer. If you wish to dual boot Windows 8 developer preview with your existing Windows 7 then follow this tutorial.

Step 1: Get the ISO ready for installation

- Download Windows 8 iso – 32 bit, 64 bit, or 64 bit with developer tools

- Prepare USB or DVD drive for installation using Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tools

Step 2: Prepare empty partition for Window 8

- Remember you need to install Windows 8 on new partition or else it will replace your current Windows 7 OS

- Recommended size for new partition is at least 20 gig or above

- You can use diskmgmt.msc to shrink your hard disk so that you can create a new partition

win 8 disk

For example if you have a partition with 100gig space try shrinking volume and gives it 20 GB space for Windows 8 installation.

Step 3 : Install Windows 8 Developer Preview to the new partition

- When booting, Windows will ask you the location (partition) that you want to install Windows 8 developer preview.

- Install Windows 8 on the new partition, please do not install it on the same partition that contains Windows 7

- After installation is started, just wait for it to be finished. Then you will be able to dual boot Windows 8 and Windows 7 on the same computer.

- It’s really easy and most people should try this method before saying it is complicated, impossible etc etc.

- That;s it, Good Luck ;)

After shrank local disk and created a new local disk. I cannot instal Windows to a new local disk because Windows says it cannot install on a dynamic drive, any solution? Thanks.
