How to Fix Windows 7 64-bit Reporting Less Than 4 GB Ram

One of the advantage if you are using Windows 7 64-bit is that you can use more than 4 GB ram and not limited to 3.25 GB on Windows 7 32 bit. However, some people are having problems in which Windows reports that the usable Ram is less than the installed ram. For example, you installed 4GB or 6GB Ram but Windows only report 3.25 GB usable.

In the past, I have encountered the problem myself but luckily I am able to fix the problem using this method.

#Fix 1 : Disable Maximum Memory in Msconfig

Open Msconfig > Boot > Advanced and unchecked Maximum Memory and leave 0 (zero) value. The second picture shows wrong settings that most people tend to change it.

Restart Windows and see whether it makes any difference or not.

#Fix 2 : Install Windows 7 Hotfix by Microsoft

Microsoft has released a hotfix to fix incorrect Ram on computers with integrated GPU. Download and install the hotfix to solve the problems.
