How to install Windows 8 inside Windows 7 (no USB, DVD required)
Previously I showed you how to dual boot Windows 8 and Windows 7 but that method requires you to burn Windows 8 Developer Preview iso to DVD or make Windows 8 bootable USB drive.
Provided you have an empty partition you can easily install Windows 8 developer preview inside Windows 7 and make it dual boot. This way you won’t need to prepare DVD or USB.
Step 1 :
1. Extract or mount the downloaded Windows 8 developer preview iso. Mount is recommended way.
2. You should see folder directories like in the picture above. Now if you run setup, you can install Windows 8 directly inside Windows but it will replace Windows 7 and move the files to Windows.old folder.
You won’t be able to select which partition to install.
3. Now open Sources folder and you will find Setup.exe inside the folder.
Run Setup.exe and you will be able to start Windows 8 installation process. Choose Custom (advanced) and select which partition that you need to install Windows 8.
Make sure you have free partition to install Windows 8 and do not install it on same partition as Windows 7 if you want to have dual boot.
Good luck
